ALP GETS INTO JORDANIAN MARKET
(Amman, June, 23rd 2011)

The Italian company ALP established a Joint Venture (ALP Jordan) with the Jordanian partner Nabil Naber’s owned company leading to the building of the air conduction plant in the industrial area of Madhaba.
On June 23 dr. Librizzi (ALP society President) and dr. Naber presented their project on the occasion of a seminar held under the patronage of the Jordan Infection Control Association and chaired by the Minister of Health.
The Italian company, which produces and sells air conduction tools and materials, in 2004 patented worldwide a special technology (ALPactive Antimicrobial) killing potentially noxious pathogens. ALP’s presence in the Middle East dates back to 1995. The strategic position of the Hashemite Kingdom, its potential role as a regional hub and the relevance of the local medical sector are the key factors that led ALP to invest in the Country.


JORDAN AND ITALY SIGN NUCLEAR COOPERATION AGREEMENT
(Amman, February, 14th 2011)

On the occasion of his visit in Amman, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs On. Franco Frattini signed with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh a nuclear cooperation agreement between Italy and Jordan (Nuclear Cooperation Agreement - NCA).
The conclusion of the NCA had been prepared through previous meetings held during the Italian experts’ technical mission in Jordan, composed by representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ENEA and top Italian companies in the field like ENEL and ANSALDO NUCLEARE.
The Italian Embassy’s role was key in establishing the relevant contacts between Italian authorities and the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC).
Since 2008 the Jordanian civil nuclear program has been a crucial component of the New Energetic Strategy, aiming at reducing the energetic dependence on foreign importations.


ELSAG DATAMAT MISSION TO JORDAN
(Amman, February, 7th 2011)

Italian Company Elsag Datamat’s Vice president dr. Fabio Pasquarelli and Area Manager dr. Fabio Chiusa visited Amman to present the Company’s activities.
On that occasion, the two Italian representatives  met several high ranking Jordanian officials, including delegates from Greater Amman Municipality, Land Transport Regulatory Commission and Ministry of Transport, with a view to discuss, in particular, the Amman metro rail project’s developments.
Elsag Datamat is the Italian centre of excellence for the design and production of systems, services and solutions in automation, security, transport, defense & space, and information technology.


ITALFERR MISSION FOR A RAILWAY PROJECT IN JORDAN
(Amman, December, 1st 2010)

Italferr S.p.A., the Italian engineering Company of the Italian State Railway Group, along with a group of highly qualified Italian companies (Ansaldo STS, Condotte, Mermec, Rail-it and Salini Costruzioni), visited Amman on December 1st.
Fruitful meetings with Jordanian counterparts took place so as to examine in details the perspectives of Italian companies’ participation in the “Jordanian National Railway Project”.


MULTISECTORAL MISSION ORGANIZED BY THE ARAB-ITALIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
(Amman, November 22nd, 2010)

The Arab-Italian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Erbil organized a multisectoral mission of Italian companies in Jordan and Iraq.
New opportunities of investment and important meetings with local partners were examined in order to boost the presence of Italian companies in Jordan and Iraq.
The opening session (Amman, November 22nd) was held with the participation of the Italian Ambassador in Amman Francesco Fransoni and of the Minister of Commerce Amer Hadidi.


TECHNICAL MISSION IN THE NUCLEAR FIELD
(Amman, September, 26th-28th 2010)

Following the visit of the Vice Minister Hon. Adolfo Urso a mission of Italian experts was organized in Amman in order to explore together with Jordanian authorities and technicians, possible cooperation projects.
The Italian mission, composed by delegates from the institutions (Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ENEA) and the major companies of the sector (ENEL, Ansaldo Nucleare), discussed with the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) several aspects of the nuclear issue, with the view to establish a Nuclear Cooperation Agreement.


VISIT TO JORDAN OF THE ITALIAN MINISTER OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HON. ADOLFO URSO
(Amman, June, 27th 2010)

On June 27th Vice Minister Hon. Adolfo Urso together with delegates from ICE, SIMEST, SACE, UNION CAMERE and the Chamber of Commerce of Milan came to Amman.
The visit of the Vice Minister was carried along two parallel tracks: an "institutional" frame of meetings held with some of the most prominent representatives of the Government and authorities of the Hashemite Kingdom and the organization of Economic Forum Italy - Jordan, which was held in the same day and was attended by about 60 Italian operators and over 110 Jordanian entrepreneurs.
Jordanian and Italian officials agreed to take several steps to build new partnerships and increase economic cooperation between the two Countries, identifying potential areas for joint economic cooperation and agreeing on the organization of four Italian economic missions to the Kingdom in the few coming months, covering energy, infrastructure, railway, joint cooperation in the port city of Aqaba and in Iraq.
Bilateral talks were held between Italian officials and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Rajai Muasher, Transport Minister Alaa Batayneh and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Khalid Irani during separate meetings. The visiting delegation also held talks with Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Khaled Toukan and Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Mohammad Saqer.
The economic forum, organised by the Jordan Investment Board and the Italian Trade Commission, was held as follow up on Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania’s visit to Italy in October last year.


RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES: “SHAMS MA’AN” PROJECT
(Amman, May, 19th 2010)

“SHAMS MA’AN” project was officially presented on May 19th at Four Season Hotel in Amman.
The initiative is undertaken by a consortium including First International for Investment and Trade, Kawar Energy, the Italian Solar ventures SRL and Maan Development Company.
Under the project, to be implemented in 2012, the group will build the world’s largest PV plant in Maan, with an initial capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) of electrical power, expandable to 200MW.
 Among the speakers there were representatives from Solar Ventures, Kawar Energy, AIE, OME, GSE S.p.A., SACE and ET Solar.


SOFEX EXHIBITION
(Amman, May, 10th-13th 2010)

From 10th to 13th May 2010 the Eighth Edition of Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) has been held in Amman.
The event is one of the most important in the field of Special Operations Security and Anti-terrorism.
More than 500 personalities attended the Exhibition, among them the President of Yemen, the PM of Estonia, the Ministers of Defence of Turkey, Gabon, Kazakhstan, Congo, Iraq, Sudan, Austria and Vice Ministers of Defence of Romania and Russia.
The aim of the Conference was the enhancement of operational abilities of the Special Forces and the creation of a network for global security in order to face terrorism.


“PROJECT NEAR EAST” FAIR
(Amman, May, 3rd- 6th 2010)

Components of several sectors (building materials, heavy equipments, electric engineering, water resources and agriculture, environmental technologies and products for infrastructure) were exhibited and showcased in the “Project Near East” Fair, organized by IFP Group and attended by more than 300 companies from 25 countries. The Italian pavilion, the biggest among EU countries, confirmed the excellence of our Country in the abovementioned fields and the growing interest of Italian companies for the Hashemite Kingdom’s market.


MISSION TO JORDAN OF THE AUTONOMOUS REGION OF SARDINIA
(Amman, March, 12th - 17th 2010)

With the support of the Italian Embassy in Amman, a mission of the Region of Sardinia was organized in order to explore opportunities of cooperation between Italian and Jordanian partners in the field of agriculture, water sources and zootechnics.
The delegation, led by the Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Region Giandomenico Sabiu, met relevant Jordanian counterparts, including the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Energy, with the aim to pave the way for the conclusion of a formal agreement.
Being Sardinia the Joint Managing Authority (JMA) of ENPI, the meetings included as well the EU Delegation to Jordan.
